          The air we breathe contains 20.9 % oxygen, the balance mostly nitrogen. Compressed air after being filtered enters a cylinder containing molecular sieve (zealite). As the air passes through the zeolite, the nitrogen attaches to the zeolite and the oxygen passes through to be stored and used. As the cylinder loads up with nitrogen, it must be flushed periodically. Thus two cylinders are used and cycled to load and unload the zeolite, thus producing a continuous stream of oxygen. Maintaining the filter elements will assume the zeolite will last indefinitely

The OXYSWING® PSA Process has a higher separation efficiency than any other PSA system in the market place. This translates into reduced feed air requirements, resulting into 10 to 25% lower energy requirement than for comparable systems.
